Fenton Art Glass continues 100th anniversary celebration, plans to open kiosk in Polaris Fashion Place, Columbus, Ohio!

Fenton Art Glass, the largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States, will open a Fenton Art Glass kiosk in the Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus, OH on Wednesday June 1, 2005.

The kiosk is leased from Jun 1, 2005 through 10, 31, 2005, with the possibility of extending operations through 1/31/2006. For the period of June through October, staff is required for 80 hours a week. The mall is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00am to 9:00pm, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 9:30pm and Sunday 12:00pm to 6:00 pm. An extra 1/2 hour each morning and evening is planned for stocking, inventory and sales reconciliation, etc.

Fenton Art Glass Company is actively seeking Fenton collectors and enthusiasts as sales associates to man the kiosk during the stated hours. A total staff of six to eight people is desired for maximum flexibility in scheduling and to allow for part-time job opportunities. By and large the kiosk will be manned by one sales associate at a time, with little overlap between shifts. Sales associates must be able to answer telephone, lift and handle packages weighing no more than 20 pounds, operate a cash register, maintain a clean a presentable work area, present a professional sales appearance both personally and throughout the kiosk, and operate the kiosk during stated hours. Hourly salary is competitive and there is a generous employee discount. Fenton is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, outgoing folks who are interested and excited about Fenton glass. The mission of the kiosk is to sell glass, but it is also a goal to expose Fenton to a newer, more suburban audience, and encourage appreciation and interest in the art of glassmaking.

Coupons for FREE factory tours will be distributed; the “Fenton Experience” factory tour video/DVD will be running continuously on a small TV monitor, and a computer with internet access to the Fenton website will be available. Another goal is to collect customer names and mailing addresses via the website.

The commitment to open a kiosk in Polaris Fashion Place is driven by the desire to share the Fenton “experience” with a broader audience who may not be familiar with the century-old, family-owned glass company. Shoppers will have an opportunity to touch and feel the glassware and see the rainbow of glass colors that Fenton is known for. Various events are planned after the kiosk opens, including artist and decorating demonstrations, glass identification seminars and glass history talks, as well as the chance to “make, bake, and take” a Fenton Christmas ornament.
